As most of you know already, the Ramleela (Ramayana play) was postponed after a Gurukul parent meeting at the ICC last Sunday (11/30).
Reason for cancellation: When we had the rehearsal on Sunday afternoon, none of the play directors and teachers thought kids were ready for the final performance in a week. Even the special effects team thought that kids were not ready to handle the background music, special effects, lights and sound effects etc. Despite practicing so hard, especially during the Thanksgiving holidays, most of us felt that kids need more time.
Future plan: Ramleela play will be held on March 5 or 6th. ICC auditorium has been booked for both days. We will take a break from the rehearsals during the winter break when the Gurukul will be closed. We will rehearse during or after each Gurukul (one chapter at a time) in January and February. We will also distribute the script audio so that the kids can rehearse their dialogues at home at their convenience. We will eventually do it with a BANG.
See you at the regular Gurukul this Sunday at 4 pm at the Sri Ganesha temple.
With best regards!
(On behalf of Gurukul parents and teachers)
P.S: “Salt Lake City Gurukul is a forum for children to discover, learn and appreciate their cultural roots, Indian and Hindu values. This is done through didactic teaching of Hindi language, games, yoga, stories especially those from Ramayan and Gita/ Mahabharat, shlokas, bhajans, arts and crafts. There are NO fees associated with Gurukul attendance.
