Subject: Inaugural 2015-2016 Gurukul session- picnic and planning 08/30 Sunday 4pm
Please plan on joining the inaugural Gurukul session of 2015-2016 year. We will start at 4 pm on Sunday (August 30th). It is very important that all interested parents and kids attend.
1. Orientation of the kids and parents to the new temple rules and tour of the class rooms (4 pm-4.30 pm) 2. Parent-teachers-volunteers meeting (4.30 pm to 5.30 pm).
3. Picnic for the kids (4.30 – 5 pm, no need to bring any food/drink items from home).
Please note that Gurukul has only existed because of volunteers. For many parents, SLC Gurukul has become an immensely valuable resource in making their kids deeply aware and feel confident about their cultural and religious roots. All major Indian cultural programs in Salt Lake area start with a performance by the Gurukul kids. So, please continue to volunteer and encourage others to do so. [Note: if you have volunteered in the past and do not want to continue, please feel free to continue as a regular parent. We will find other volunteers].
Many newly arrived parents have expressed their interest in joining Gurukul. We do not have every one’s contact details. Please feel free to forward this email and/or invite them to this inaugural session and the picnic.

P.S: “Salt Lake City Gurukul is a forum for children to discover, learn and appreciate their cultural roots, Indian and Hindu values. This is done through didactic teaching of Hindi language, games, yoga, stories especially those from Ramayan and Gita/ Mahabharat, shlokas, bhajans, arts and crafts. There are NO fees associated with Gurukul attendance.
